One week old:

their weights are 208 / 149 / 273 / 246 gr.

Heads N' Tails Gotta Dance (Fred) &  Heads N' Tails Gotta Be Me (Beamer)

Heads N' Tails Gotta Have Heart (Bruce) & Heads N' Tails Gonna Be A Star (Stella)

The first week went by so peacefully. Raiya absolutely adores her pups and takes excellent care of them, they're well-fed and beautifully cleaned all the time. All we have to do is bring her loads of food and keep her company when she likes, the rest is taken care of by her. We hold the puppies several times a day, weigh them twice a day, pet them and talk to them (eventhough they're still stonedeaf). At 11 days we clipped their nails for the first time and they sort of slept through this first experience. We're very proud of Raiya and her kids, and also of their dad and his owner Petra who won his first Dutch CAC & CACIB with BOB yesterday in Arnhem!

Two weeks old:

Their weight at 2 weeks: Fred 366, Beamer 280, Bruce 438 and Stella 420. Their eyes start to open now, Fred was first at 13 days and tried sitting and walking at 14 days. Bruce walked first at 14 days. Stella opened her eyes at 14 days. Photos: 11 days and 2 weeks (taken without flash because of the eyes opening).

The 3rd week

Pics at 16 days, they have "real" faces now :-)

Bruce                                                                           Stella

Fred, Bruce, Beamer and Stella, 20 days old.

The puppies tasted goat's milk with yoghurt for the first time (though no surprise for Beamer who got this as a supplement when he didn't gain much in the start). The first time they licked the milk off a spoon, which was at the same time their introduction to the clicker. Next day, all together with a dish. Food is Fun!

It's a very interesting week, they show so much personality already. Fred was first in drinking the yoghurt/milk from the dish, he got it right at the first try, as with many things he does. Bruce wandered off looking around him but then changed his mind, tasted the "wet stuff" and planted his feet firmly in the dish. Later he walked over to his mom to get his face cleaned up. Beamer recognised the taste, not very new to him. Stella liked it too, drank a bit and then was busy cleaning her feet.

This week we changed the partition that divides the whelping box in two halfs, now they can use the front half as potty area. Beamer discovered it straight away and showed his siblings how to use the newspapers. Nails were clipped again this week, the only one who had wiggly feet was Bruce. All in all, Bruce has quite an attitude. While his brothers and sister mostly "go with the flow", he goes his own way and isn't shy to announce it. He was also first to bark and growl, with Stella as closest competition. Raiya & pups and Nixe & her sons still have the livingroom to themselves but now our other dogs start "visiting". The pups have now met Prince ("nice pups, but what's the big deal, I'll be back later") and our big girl Hannah who was simply thrilled to see them. With shining eyes and madly wagging tip of her tail she inspected the babies and kissed them all. Soon she'll have a baby-sitting job again ;-)

Weights at 3 weeks: Fred 529, Beamer 385, Bruce 585 and Stella 564 gr.

The 4th week

The puppies are now playing with Raiya, eachother and with toys. Spending time on the couch with us and the other dogs is big fun. They also met a visiting neighbour, their first "new" person, and heared new noises like the lawnmower just outside the window and lots of sounds that go together with redecorating another room, like hammering and drilling holes in walls. Their babyteeth have come through and they've been eating soft foods but are more interested in playing with it than really eating it; Raiya has plenty of milk so they don't really need to bother. They got a variety of new toys, one of those is a Hide-A-Bird or as it really should be called... Hide-A-Beamer :-)

Stella                                                 Bruce and Fred

Stella, Beamer, Bruce and Fred.

Their weights at 4 weeks: Fred 701, Beamer 478, Bruce 680 and Stella 662 gr.

The 5th week

Now it's getting really interesting :-) This week they met friends of ours and showed a promising love for pulling long hair and opening zippers in sweaters. They also went outside for the first time to feel the wind, hear the birds and take a look around. Their playtimes with the adults and especially Raiya are so much fun to watch.

Here's Fred, and a little animation of a short "don't you pull my tail"-lesson from his mom:

And here is Beamer .... "Are we done now? So the camera loves me... want me to kiss it?"

Bruce, very innocent, until his mother refused to leave her comfy chair :-)

Below is Stella. She had the idea first, but great minds think alike.

Fred: "Look at those whiners, aren't they pathetic..."      Stella & Bruce: "We want out!!!"

Stella: "please, please, pretty please?"     Beamer: "hey, you deaf? she said PUHLEEEEAAASE!"

Their weights at 5 weeks: Fred 825, Beamer 562, Bruce 787 and Stella 753 gr.
